Enhancing Smart Classrooms: Demonstration Interactive Panel Features in Temburong

February 11, 2025,  EdTech Centre, under the Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam, hosted a demonstration session at SR Sultan Hashim Batu Apoi, Temburong. This event was facilitated by ASDS, the vendor responsible for supplying the interactive panels for the Smart Classroom Project. The primary objective of the session was to ensure that educators from SR Sultan Hashim and SM Sultan Hasan, both selected schools for the third phase of the Smart Classroom Project, are equipped with the necessary skills to maximize the use of these innovative tools in their teaching practices.

The session saw active participation from both schools, fostering an environment of collaboration and knowledge sharing. EdTech Centre officers were also in attendance to support the initiative and engage with the educators. This training is a critical step in enhancing the digital competency of teachers, ultimately leading to enriched learning experiences for students and the successful implementation of the Smart Classroom Project throughout Brunei Darussalam.

On 15 February 2025, EdTech Centre under the Ministry of Education (MOE) hosted a significant meeting with the Corporate Communication Division (CCD) to discuss strategies aimed at enhancing the reach and impact of MOE TV and the SUMBER DRMS platform. This initiative was inspired by the insights shared by YM Tuan SUT HE during the previous Digital Transformation Steering Committee (DTSC) meeting, emphasizing the need for innovative approaches to engage more teachers and students in Brunei Darussalam’s  awareness on both platforms.

During the discussion, several actionable plans were agreed upon to facilitate greater collaboration between EdTech Centre and CCD. A key outcome of this meeting is the commitment to share regular updates and engaging content through the MOE Instagram page, ensuring that vital information and resources are readily accessible to educators and learners alike. This collaborative effort underscores our dedication to leveraging technology in education and fostering an informed and connected community.

Attendees included representatives from PTE Tutong and SR Binturan, alongside JSS officers and members of the EdTech Centre, all of whom participated actively in the demonstration.

The session provided an in-depth exploration of the interactive panel’s features, emphasizing strategies to maximize its usage within classroom settings. Participants were encouraged to engage with the technology hands-on, allowing them to better understand its capabilities in fostering interactive learning. On 2 December 2024, the EdTech Centre, in collaboration with the ICT Department and with the support of SEPaDU, successfully hosted a workshop focused on the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Digital Transformation Plan of the Ministry of Education. Held at the New MOE Building Hall, this workshop convened the heads of relevant departments, fostering an environment of collaborative discussion aimed at aligning departmental objectives with the overarching goals of digital transformation within the education sector.

The primary objective of the workshop was to establish clear, measurable KPIs that will guide the implementation and evaluation of the Digital Transformation Plan. Participants engaged in comprehensive discussions that not only outlined the significance of these indicators but also explored innovative strategies for effective monitoring and assessment. The outcomes of this workshop are expected to enhance the Ministry’s capacity to leverage technology in education

On June 8, 2023, the Education Technology Centre hosted sharing sessions on artificial intelligence (AI). The first sharing session was led by YM Cikgu Abdul Walid bin Haji Misli, who discussed the survey results of Brunei teachers’ viewpoints on the application of artificial intelligence in education. The survey was distributed from June 6 to June 12, 2024. The goal of presenting the survey results was to determine the baseline of our current educators’ comprehension and implementation of AI in their teaching and learning. 

The second sharing was by YM Ali Sofian bin Haji Thani, Senior Education Officer from the Department of Curriculum Development, and YM Cikgu Syahrul Bahri bin Haji Ahmad, Education Officer from Pengiran Anak Puteri Hajah Masna Secondary School, Cluster 3 on their significant takeaways from the ASEAN Stakeholder Summit on Generaitive AI Education, held at the Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on May 14-15, 2024.

The event was graced by the presence of the Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof. During the celebration of Riadah Amal, Education Technology Centre, Ministry of Education had the opportunity to participate showcased various learning programs such as Sumber, MOE TV, and Augmented Reality (AR). These programs aim to promote and publicize existing educational resources to enhance learning experiences for students. In addition, the event aimed to contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of the Bandarku Ceria Program.

On May 4, 2024, the Ministry of Education organized a memorable Majlis Ramah Mesra Sambutan Hari Raya Aidilfitri at Sekolah Rendah Lambak Kanan Jalan 49. The event was graced by the presence of the guest of honor, Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh.

The celebration featured a range of engaging activities, including quizzes, lucky draws, and singing performances, which added to the festive atmosphere. A variety of food and beverage stalls were set up, offering traditional dishes and drinks from different countries. This cultural element allowed attendees to enjoy and experience diverse cuisines, enhancing the spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The Majlis Ramah Mesra not only celebrated the joyous occasion but also fostered a sense of community and cultural appreciation among all who attended.

On 2nd May 2024, a group of teachers from Sekolah Menengah Menglait Gadong, led by Haji Huzaimi bin Haji Moksin, visited the Education Technology Centre. The main objective of the visit was to continue the Video-based Learning Resource (VBLR) Project in the TV Unit. During the visit, the teachers were particularly interested in the editing facilities, audio studios, green screen studios, and innovative Augmented Reality (AR) and Interactive Panel technology available at the centre.
The tour concluded with an engaging question and answer session, allowing the teachers to further enhance their understanding of the facilities and technologies available at the Education Technology Centre.
The teachers express the appreciation for the support given by the Education Technology Center in accommodating the visit from Sekolah Menengah Menglait Gadong. They're providing the teaching staff with valuable exposure to the facilities and infrastructure available at the centre, as well as the different video recording options that can enhance their teaching methods.
